they're the same thing. the hot chicken wing was invented in buffalo, which is why they're often referred to as 'buffalo wings.' but, i don't care what anyone says, unless you're in western new york, you just aren't getting the real thing my friend. trust me. i've had chicken wings in other parts of the country that use flour and are baked, but buffalo wings are deep fried and doused in a mixture of hot sauce and butter. if you want to know more, google "the anchor bar." that's the restaurant that originated the wings. hope that helps!
