Cucumbers in the artic?
Answers:
Well having worked in Iqaluit in the Northern part of Canada on Baffin Island, I can say this much, they don't grow up there, but are imported, I did not see alot in the grocery store, a pound of tomatos was 4$ and 3 apples were 3$.
As everything has to be imported there are not native plants outside of a few berries available in the short growing season, in Alaska they have some species than are adapted to there shorter gorwing season. But above the frost line meaning the soil and earth are permanently frozen solid, it is hard to grow anything.
Native animals like musk oxen, caribou, rabbits and birds are used in cooking, whales to but only by the Inuit and Eskimo population, we had some for sale at the hotel.
