Mix green tea with oolong tea?!

Question:

Mix green tea with oolong tea?

Its all I have left in the cabinet . . think it will taste good, or is it time to head out to the store?

Answers:

well depends...would you mix chardonnay and a shiraz together? normally no, but some people may like it like that--a ghetto sangria.

mixing these two teas will still make tea, but each tea's flavor characteristics and profiles will be lost. however, at some cantonese restaurants, they will serve blended teas such as oolong and chrysanthemum to make the red tea more floral. but green teas are sharp and fresh/green/herbal tasting and adding oolong (richer, tannic, and smooth) may counteract that. however, to a non-tea person, mixing the two they probably would not know other than it tastes like non-lipton tea.

keep in mind that if you ice it, it'll be harder to tell tea's flavor profiles as ice hides some of the notes and flavors of tea.

i would just go to the store and get more. however, a popular blend is green tea and jasmine.
