The most calorie laden part is the sauce, with the coconut and peanut base, the sate itself is not fattening, when I was a chef I made it both in Canada and In the Far East.

You can find a lower fat coconut milk and cut the fat with raw peanuts for the sauce, I would saute them with the base of ginger, shallots and garlic, then and the spices and coconut milk simmer it for 20 mintues then buzz it in the blender, but a little less coconut milk and natural peanut butter is a good alternative for a lower fat sauce.
