How to keep herbs?!

Question:

How to keep herbs?

I live in an apartment, and have no balcony, but would love to have fresh herbs in the house without running to the grocery store so much.
My favs are dill, parsley, and rosemary.
Any suggestions ?
Also, if I buy fresh, and hang them to dry, how long before they need to be replaced? I would like to start making my own infused olive oil because its so expensive .

Answers:

Any of those you mention as your favorites should grow well on a sunny windowsill. Rosemary in particular does well as a houseplant. Dill gets leggy, and you have to be sure to pinch it back hard.

If you hang and dry your own fresh herbs, provided they are well dried, and kept sealed and dry, they should last as long as any dried herbs. They are at their best the first year though. I would replace home-dried herbs at the end of the growing season.
