Is it ok to thaw large packages of frozen onions and the re-freeze them in smaller packages?!

Answers:

I assume that your package of frozen onions was thawed by mistake because they are usually sold I.Q.F. (individually quick frozen). Except for ham and raw meat, every thing can be safely re-frozen as long as you do not break the cold chain (it as to thaw in the fridge, do not let it sit on the counter top for hours). In order to re-freeze the I.Q.F. way, spread the onions on a tray, put it in the freezer and when frozen transfer into Zip Lock bags.
