What's the difference between "dinner" and "supper"?!

Question:

What's the difference between "dinner" and "supper"?

Answers:

Basically the same, however in some areas, years back, dinner was the mid-day meal, what we mostly now call lunch. Supper was the lighter evening meal. The mid-day meal (dinner) was the main or larger meal, especially among farm families.Factory and mine workers used to carry their "dinner pail" to work and eat dinner there. We, today, mostly call our meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
