Why does food taste better when its leftovers?!

Question:

Why does food taste better when its leftovers?

When I bring food back from a restaurant, it can sometimes taste better when I reheat it at home?

Answers:

There are a couple of dishes that I make and sit in the fridge to cool , then serve it the next day....is that still leftovers, but it always tastes better that way.
My daughter will not eat chicken and noodles until the next day...she'll get one little spoonful when they are fresh. Next day a big heaping bowl of them.

They just taste good. It gives the food a chance to rest, and mingle with all the other flavors.
