Is this an avocado? Is there any similar fruit that`s yellow inside?!

Question:

Is this an avocado? Is there any similar fruit that`s yellow inside?

I bought a fruit at the store that I thought was an avocado. It LOOKED like an avocado. I have never eaten one, except in guacamole. It was about the same size and everything, It even felt like one, except when I cut it open, instead of soft green, it was stringy and solid canary yellow. I tasted it, and it had a starchy, green plant flavor, not entirely yukky, but not good either. Was it an overripe avocado? Underripe? Not an avocado? Thanks in advance.

Answers:

Nope. That wasn't an avocado. It could have been a mango - some types are the same size and shape as avocados, but they can be stringy and bright yellow inside - especially if they are not quite ripe.
