What's an average weekly food budget for a single person?
I live with my parents so I have no idea, but I'm going to work away for 4 months where I'll need to budget for my own shopping each week.
I'll want to eat healthily and cheaply, and as I'll be living with some others the evening meals will probably all be chipped into by all of us, so really it's brekkie and lunch and added bits, including drinks (not alcohol), and then stuff like personal items, toiletries etc.
Think student living: how much should I budget for a weekly shop?

Dub07 - you must shop at Waitrose! I'm talking scouring Asda reduced section!!

You need to pool your resources with your flatmates to help prevent wastage. There is nothing more criminal than putting food in the bin, and around 20% of all fruit and veg bought in the UK goes in the bin!
I am a single person and my food bill, just food, minus grooming and cleaning products, comes to around £30 per week, sometimes a bit less. I find the best thing is to get things which will keep in the cupboard/fridge/freezer without going off in your weekly shop. Don't buy fruit and veg from the supermarket, get them on the day you need them where possible to cut down on waste.
Don't waste money on expensive junk in your shop like biscuits and crisps etc. If you can, choose the supermarket brand over the big brands and look out for special offers. If you go in one of the 24 hour supermarkets you often find food item reduced at night.
