Is it safe for a tddler to eat Tuna?!

Question:

Is it safe for a tddler to eat Tuna?

My son is 2 years and 2 months and couple of days old. I usually make thing which contains tuna. I usually don't give it to him. But today he had a little. I don't know if it's safe for toddler's to have canned tuna [in water]. Please let me know! Thanks heaps!

Oh yeah he had maybe about 2-3 tablespoon! It was mixed in mashed potatoes and onions and lemon juice!

Answers:

In moderation it's okay, according to some recent reports I've read. There was a boy in the news recently who got severe mercury poisoning from eating canned tuna daily, sometimes twice a day. Tuna is one of the fish that can be high in mercury, but taken in moderation, should be fine.
