How long does formerly frozen and now thawed meat stay good in the fridge?!

Question:

How long does formerly frozen and now thawed meat stay good in the fridge?

I bought some really nice, well-sealed ground beef that was frozen. When I got home, I put it in the fridge to defrost and promptly forgot about it. I think it's been about a week and a bit, and I just rediscovered the package. Is it still safe to cook and eat? The package is vacuum sealed -- no air has gotten in. Thanks!

Answers:

open and smell. if you've left it in the fridge all this time and thawed it in the fridge, it may be okay. Your nose will tell you.
