Why do they have to make baguettes so hard?!

Question:

Why do they have to make baguettes so hard?

its cutting the inside of my mouth

Answers:

They're not making them properly and/or they're not fresh.
They should be light it the middle with a thin, crisp outer crust.
The baguettes I had in France were wonderful; nothing like the chewy, long-shelf-life, full-of-preservatives stuff they offer here.
