What is the difference between Beef Tenderloin and Filet?!

Question:

What is the difference between Beef Tenderloin and Filet?

My fiance and I want a steak (filet) served to our guests at our wedding. All the catering dinner options say Beef Tenderloin. Is this a steak or is it slices of meat?

Answers:

beef filet or filet mignon is actually from the tenderloin area and is cut from the tenerloin tenderloin is a boneless piece of beef that is located above the loin area along the edge of the backbone this meat is very tender because usually meat that is tender is muscle that an animal doesnt use the tenderloin is cut into steaks usuallaly about 1 inch thick some places also refer to this as a backstrap instead of the word tenderloin or filrt
