What is the difference between Oyster, Clam and Mussel?!

Question:

What is the difference between Oyster, Clam and Mussel?

Because you can find them in many cuisines and they almost look the same!

Answers:

Taste.
they're the same in that they are all bivalve mollusks. which means that they are soft tissued creatures with 2 hinged parts to their protective shell.
the differences are many. Clams live under sand naturally as mussels and oysters cling to rocks and other hard or reef like environs. Mussels and clams are both generally symmetrical, meaning that both shells are the same (or mirror immages) Oysters have a cupped bottom shell, and a flatter upper shell.

In cooking Clams and mussels are generally cooked, and often served in a broth although many other methods such as frying, boiling, stewing and even eating raw are used.
Oysters are more commonly eaten raw, but as well are delicous cooked a number of different ways.

The major variance among oysters and mussels is size with a little in the shape. Clams are common in the classic steamer clam size and shape, but can come in many different sizes and shapes
