Supermarkets sell organic walnuts. What is it that qualifies them as being organic.?

I think that since walnuts grow on large trees spraying with pesticides or fertilising the trees would not be involved. I assume that when the crop is collected it is randomly divided into ordinary walnuts and organic walnuts simply to make extra profit.
