What are free-range sausages?
Waitrose sell a free range pork sausage.....I have never seen a herd of sausages (should it be a string?) I have an enticing vision of sizzling sausages streaming across the plains of the Serengeti..
Answers:
The free range sausage, whilst smaller and thinner than your regular one, is in fact a nervous creature and tends to be difficult to catch. They are, therefore, pound for pound, more expensive than your sausage reared in captivity. Normally found in hilly countryside they are primarily a pack-animal preferring the company of other sausages. If you come across any of these shy animals do take care not to corner them, for while they are shy, they have been know to attack if they feel threatened or in particular if they have their young with them, and can give a really nasty nip.
