Food items that are unique to Michigan?
This is for homework and I can only think of 2...Faygo and Vernors. I need 5 more food or drinks that are unique to Mi that can be used in a food service operation.
HELP??
Answers:
Do you need food items that are unique to Michigan or were invented in Michigan, or that Michigan is known for, but that exist in other places?
Things I think are unique to Michigan are:
Pinconning cheese- from Pinconning, Michigan
Trenary Toast- a cinnamon toast from the UP
Invented in Michigan:
Cornflakes and other cereals from Battle Creek
Vernors (my favorite)
Boston Cooler (a ice cream float made with Vernors and vanilla ice cream, not named for the city of Boston, but for Boston street in Detroit, where the soda fountain was located)
Michigan is known for:
Frankenmuth chicken dinners
Traverse city area cherries
Pasties from the UP (a Cornish invention brought there by settlers who came to work in the copper mines)
Mackinac Island Fudge
I am sure I have forgotten some, but I hope this helps.
