What is a good substitute for fresh fruit?!

Question:

What is a good substitute for fresh fruit?

I like to have fruit on my yogurt in the morning. Fresh berries are so expensive and are about to go out of season. I tried frozen but they were bland and rubbery. Does anyone have a good suggestion for this?

Answers:

Too bad frozen didn't work for you. I've had good luck with them. You might want to try different brands that might have better freezing technology because frozen, aside from being cheaper and easier to get all year long, are nearly as good for you nutritionally as fresh. In lieu of that not working for you, then I think your next option is to go for canned or dried fruits, either of which might suit your taste and be easy to find all year, but will not have quite the same nutrutional punch as fresh or frozen without added sugars and such. If you are really feeling motivated to get some good fruit for your yogurt, and you have the time and space for it, you could try growing, say, strawberries indoors and then you could have fresh fruit all year round. Just make sure you grown an ever-fruiting variety.
