Sushi tuna fresh enough to eat?!

Question:

Sushi tuna fresh enough to eat?

I bought some tuna for sushi from a japanese market a couple days ago. Is it still fresh enough to eat as sushi? How do you tell?

Answers:

The secret that is for the sushi chef is that you freeze the meat slightly to kill and bacteria. Not to long to break it cellularly. Just to firm it up a little.
Check for smell, if it is fishy that is on it's way to spoiling. If it is slimy then you better wash it with salt and blacken it.
