What is the difference between GRAVY, DRESSING and SAUCE?


Answers:

Gravy generally describes a hot,thick sauce made from thickened pan drippings. Dressing usually describes a cold sauce that does not necessarily need to be emulsified. As in a vinagarette. Sauce is the more broad, general term used to describe any liquid poured on or served beside food.
