Ok let me add a little info. I know what I can't have. Plus who ever said Fruits were low carb was kidding themselves. I am on the diet for medical purposes to shrink my liver before having Gastric bypass surgery. This is what I am not allowed to have any of at all.
Bread
Cereal
Rice
Pasta
Grains
Fruit

after that it can not add up to more than 40 grams a day. We are not talking 40 grams of sugar Carbs but 40 Grams total carbs. So after reading this little add on please give suggestions.

Basically you must eat plenty of fruit and vegetables- which contain very few carbs which will have the effect of adding fat to your body- all sugars contained in fruits are complex and require energy to convert into usuable fuel for cells- this is why it is impossible to be fat on a high fruit diet. Who put you on this diet? Please don't tell me a doctor or health professional. All foods have carbs. It's just a matter or more or less. A healthy diet includes, fruits, vegetables and protein such as egg whites or chicken. You have to have some type of carb enriched food each day like a cup of rice or small baked potato. Dream Fields makes several low carb (good digestible) pastas. Generally an Alfredo sauce is less in carbs. Braums makes a carb watch ice cream in quite a number of flavors. Sara Lee has a lower carb bread. Blue cheese dressing generally is less in carbs. Of course Atkins still sells a number of food bars. Any sugar free candy made with Splenda. You can still purchase the Atkins diet books and they have a slew of recipes in them. Turkey, chicken, ground beef, steak, lettuce, celery, pork rinds. I found a site that helped when I was doing low carb - it's www.sugarfreesheila.com. She's a beautiful girl who lost weight low carbing and she has helpful suggestions. eggs

low carb arnolds bread or sara lee My husband and I are doing Atkins. We are eating so well and are loosing weight. I have diabetes and high blood pressure. Since loosing weight, my numbers are great. I highly recommend a low carb diet. I am down two pants sizes and the ones I wear now are loose.

Try some new veggies instead of things like potatoes and rice. Try a jicama (hick- a ma`). It tastes between a turnip and an apple. It is low carb and keeps it shape when cooked. It is delicious fried like french fries or in salads.

Try tomitillas, a poblano or jalipena pepper with the seeds removed, garlic, salt, pepper, and a small amount of onion. Chop it in a food processor with a dash of olive oil for about 10-15 seconds. It can't be easier than that. Top any meat with this. It is delicious and low carb.

If you feel deprived and want something sweet, the Atkins candy bars are great. I especialy like the ones that are like Mounds.Get on the internet and search low-carb recipes. We make great food and are loosing weight. Our favorite website is: lowcarbluxury.com.

You can do this. Just start to re-think food, one meal, one day, at a time. I decided to stay alive for my family instead of eating myself to death like some members of my family. I put my love for my family first over my desire to overfeed myself. You can do it.
