Do you like Mom's meatloaf best?
Is your Mom's meatloaf still the best, or is there a local restaurant that makes it better than Mom herself?
Answers: mom's... made with love....plus mom makes some AWESOME mashed potatoes to go with it!!!!!!!! i love mom's meatloaf ---in fact that's what's for dinner tonite but everyone's is different -- I can honestly say that I have never tried meatloaf...I know, I am wierd. The Cheesecake Factory makes great meatloaf and so does.The Cracker Barrel My husband (using a Cook's Illustrated recipe) recently topped my mom's meatloaf, so he now holds the family meatloaf title. Thus far, I have tasted comparable restaurant meatloaf, but nothing that is better. my mom's meatloaf! Actually, my meatloaf is better than my mother's meatloaf, and I have yet to find a restaurant meatloaf that meets my criteria as a good meatloaf.
My mother concurs, by the way, that my meatloaf is better than hers. My mother does make the best meatballs that I have ever had. My grandmother makes a great stuffed cabbage. Both are sort of meat loaf.
I have crossed a French pate de la campagne with the American style meatloaf. Comes out very moist and not strongly beef flavored. Sorry to say, but my mom's meatloaf sent the family and the dogs running for cover. It just wasn't good.
Mine on the other hand........well.......no need to pat myself on the back........but........no leftovers....unless I make 2, with 1 for sandwiches. no. I prefer my grandmother's meatloaf. I like mine. My daughter likes my mom's (her Ga ga's)
I like ground beef, bbq sauce, ketsup, brown sugar, mixed veggies, crackers and or bread, couple of eggs. Mix it all and bake it. my mother made some great meatloaf before she passed but i can make a mean meatloaf from scratch as well. but the last time i ordered meatloaf from a diner it was more loaf than meat. the filler of bread was quite a bit and when the server asked me how i liked it i told her the truth. she came back with some coupons for me to use on future meals and i refused to take them telling her i will not be back. only had mom's. down here in FL, we are missing a key ingredient, so i haven't had meatloaf in a long time.... Actually,my meatloaf tastes better than my mother's did,her meatloaf was always too dry and didn't have much flavor to it!
