Is it legal for me to raise and eat guinea pig?!

Question:

Is it legal for me to raise and eat guinea pig?

I just watched a food network show where they eat guinea pig, it looks really good and it seems that everyone that has tried it raves about it. Now before you call me names;
- One, I don't care, I've killed deer that are much more cute.
-Two, pigs are much smarter, and most people have no problem eating those.
-Three, you only like guinea pigs because they are cute and fuzzy, unlike pigs, so your just shallow, not actualy caring or you wouldn't eat meat at all.
-Four, millions of people all over the world eat them.
-Five, thanks for taking the time to consider my question, serious answers only please. -umoguy

Answers: Yep. =) Here's a great recipe.

Fried Guinea Pig (Ayacucho-style)
CUY CHAQTADO

1 guinea pig, de-haired, gutted, and cleaned
1/2 c. flour
1/4 - 1/2 t. ground cumin
salt and black pepper to taste
1/2 c. oil
Pat dry the skin of the guinea pig and rub in the cumin, salt, and pepper. Preheat oil. Dust the carcass with the flour and place it on its back in the oil, turning to cook both sides. Alternately, the guinea pig can be cut and fried in quarters.
Serve with boiled potato or boiled manioc root, and a salad of cut tomatoes and slivered onions bathed in lime juice and a bit of salt. Best with some cold beer at hand. I'm sure it's legal. Why wouldn't it be? Only animals at risk of extinction are off limits, right? I bet they taste just like squirrel. Soo...trying not to make any judgements: aren't you concerened you'll raise them and become attached to them like pets and then not want to eat them, cuz whether you like it or not, they are really cute. I'm sorry I have to answer this question. Why in god's green earth would you want to eat a guinea pig? I've killed deer and we eat what we kill. I love pork and beef and chicken. But never would I ever even think about eating a guinea pig. If you are starving and have no other options but to eat the guinea then do it but if not go buy a steak. ( I've had squirrel and it's nothing to brag about) yes but u get a reall small bacon sandwich u should also try smoking it yuck!!! why even consider it when you can buy meat already fessed and butchered at the grocery store. even exotic stuff like gator, ostrich etc. Even if it is legal, WHY, of all things would you eat a guinea pig?
