Is it bibb lettuce or bib lettuce?!
Is it bibb lettuce or bib lettuce?
one ending b or two ending b's please explain? only serious answers o.k.
Answers: Bibb owes its name to John Bibb who developed this variety in Kentucky from Boston lettuce in the 1850s.
How do you tell Bibb lettuce from Boston lettuce? Boston's leaves are wider and lighter green than Bibb's.
Cobb, as in Cobb salad, uses a double-b as well. It was named for Robert Cobb, the owner of Hollywood's Brown Derby restaurant, where the salad was created. The Cobb Salad and the Caesar Salad (invented by Cesare Cardini who had a restaurant in Tiajuana) were the first "main course" salads.
Why is Caesar Salad not Cesare Salad? Must be those darned illiterate gringos, I guess. double b, but no explanation, that's just the way it's spelled check this out:

It is bibb lettuce and it is really good especially with salads. Unless you're gonna tie it around your neck when you eat, it is Bibb!
