Answers: It was in the middle of the Yucatan jungle (no joke).
The time was in the mid-70's. My family went on a Cozumel vacation and my dad and I took one of those day trips across to the mainland to see the ruins. This involved a couple of hour bus ride each way through the jungle. Lunch was included in the price of the tour. So... there we were in the middle of the jungle and the bus pulls over at what was basically a thatch roofed hut. The inside was fairly nicely appointed, nothing fancy, but comfortable. They served a dish called "Chicken Yucatan". This was basically a half chicken wrapped in a banana leaf with various herbs and spices and slow cooked in a pit. OH MY FLIPPIN' GOD!!! To this day it remains the best meal I have ever eaten, and believe me, as the son of a gourmet chief who enjoys cooking himself that is saying something. Chicken biriyani in hotel sangamam! In Reno, Nevada, @ the Hiltons Buffet, and it was Lemon Chicken with Penne Pasta....The best, Im tellin you!!!! Funny you ask, it was last @ Sonics in Orlando 2 days ago, all you can eat for $3 special i ate so many things wow..... I feel fat. Allred's in Telluride Colorado. Chef's table (in the kitchen). it was a little more than $200 per person, and worth every penny. Lasagna at my grandma's house every year for my birthday. My parents always have the best food. It is always better when someone cooks for me! Full sunday dinner & desert...Fox & Hounds Gotta be a nice home-cooked dinner.
Away from home, then it would be one of those truck stops that serve those scrumptious huge omelletes. My late Gran's Sunday Roast, nothing has EVER come close to it and nothing ever will. A seafood feast in a Mom and Pop restaurant on the docks in Cagliari, Sardinia. The fish was live when it was ordered. The Chianti was chilled. The seafood was cooked without oil and served immediately. The people that ran the place were totally hospitable. We ate for 3 hours that night. My gran's stew in her kitchen. My mom's home cooking. She fixes roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn on the cob, deviled eggs, homemade rolls, and for dessert Oreo Dirt Cake. That is the best meal I have ever eaten. Old Timer Burger at Chilli's chicken marsala and i ate it at olive garden served with bread sticks and a big bowl of salad MMM Crawfish Bisque that my Mom makes. the best meal i have ever eaten is a smarties and yogat and lemonade and icecream and frogs legs!!! i'm not liying!!! grilled octopus, greek salad, bowl of olives, glass of ouzu. tingaki beach, kos, greece. 1997 Mommas kitchen:o) Portland, Oregon but it's not open to the public:o) Actually my husband and I went to a place called Lone Star steak house in Hutchinson Kansas it was AWESOME! NY steak, baked sweet potato with butter sugar and Cinnamon and hot potato rolls with honey butter. OMG it was soooooooooooooo good! cool question,answers should be varied
My fav meal was in a little cafe,upstairs,overlooking the street in Powell River,BC,Canada.We had the seafood platter for two,mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! The night I came home and my husband made crab stuffed flounder and set a beautiful table and had the whole house clean and lit with candles. Not only was it an unexpected weekday treat to come home to, but it was super yummy! I have since requested this meal many times on the occasions he cooks! at home. my hubby is a brill cook. he made fillet steak with an amazing sauce( brandy,onions mushrooms cream spinich lots of spices etc) roast potatoes, mash with carrot and sweede mashed up,deep fried broccolli, peas in garlic butter.
wonderful I'm picky about cleanliness...so what comes from my kitchen is the best to me Ah-so.

You only choose the meat you have and it is all cooked in front of you, courgette, onion, fried rice, baby corn..........I had the steak and pork :)
And a smoothie.
Possibly the most tender steak ever and best tasting pork ever, both perfectly cooked. popcorn(fried) shrimp.
joes crab shack. chicken divan cooked by my fiance A Big Mac Happy meal at MacDonalds in Bluewater - straight after a medical procedure that required me not to eat for 36 hours. the best meal i have ever eaten was in america and it was a ceaser salad at a resturant in one of their themed parks in florida. i know it sounds weird but it was seriously good ! and healthy !! On the far side of Cozumel in Mexico, in the mid 90's. That part of the island was not well developed. The cuurents there are treacherous. Some friends and I drove over anyway and found a few huts. We stopped at one that was the size of a gas station restroom. There were four tables out front in the sand. We ordered beer and , on a whim, camarones de ajo, ... garlic shrimp. About five dozen arrived on huge platter, swimming in butter and fresh garlic, and were the most perfectly cooked grilled shrimp I've ever had.
For the four of us, it was .... $ 4.00. Scampi Flambe at The Red Lion Hotel in Spokane Washington. They had portable gas stove carts and the cook would come to your table and make it right in front of you. Flambe is french for flames which means that the food is served on fire. The fire is from the brandy that gives it flavor. For desert Cherries Jubilee which is cherries served on ice cream which is also on fire. Just about a 60 bucks for dinner. Fried Rice.
