Heating Lasagna?!

Question:

Heating Lasagna?

I had lasagna tonight for dinner and put the rest of it in the fridge for later. I went to eat some more of it a little bit ago and I heated it up in my oven for only 10 minutes or so before my oven started smoking. My oven's messed up now, and my lasagna was only slightly warm, and still cold for the most part. Is it still okay to eat it? There is no meat in it at all.

It was completely cool when it was put in the fridge, and I had not left it sitting out for too long.

It was completely cool when it was put in the fridge, and I had not left it sitting out for too long. It's fine to eat. Sounds like you spilled something in your oven and that's why it smoked. I think there was metal in your microwave. Also, 2 minutes does it for me, and it is steaming hot. Something is wrong with yours. It's hard to say.If the lasagna was fully/properly cooled when you put it away, it shuold be fine to eat, just a little cold. However if it wasn't then you run the risk of getting sick. Even though there is no meat, there are noodles and starches make a home for bacteria just like meat. You shouldn't reheat things in an oven, unless you are heating up the whole pan at a low temp. It's better to reheat lasagne in a pan on top of the stove, and only one serving at a time. If you have a microwave, that's an even better choice if only because you can put it in a bowl or on a plate and heat it for 3-4 minutes at most, and only have one dish to clean afterwards. It's okay to eat it partly cold, I eat mine right out of the fridge and it tiastes just fine and hasn't killed me yet. maybe u have a problem with the oven. but it might be u put the lasagna in the top shelf and it wasnt enough or u put it in the bottom shelf with a high temp and u burned it and a result the middle did not cook properly. if it was cooked before u shouldnt worry if eating it abit cold. but if it was raw becareful if u used eggs.
hope it helps I suspect that your sauce boiled over when you were initially baking your lasagne and reheating it only stirred things up! I usually reheat in the microwave, covering it with a paper towel and letting it heat for about 2 - 3 minutes. If you really want to do it in the oven, preheat your oven to 350 degrees and let your lasagne come to room temperature before placing it in the oven. You'll need to place it in a pan with foil or a lid on it and a little liquid in the bottom. Plan on leaving it in the oven for at least 30 minutes.
