OK, I've Made a Simple Syrup?!

Question:

OK, I've Made a Simple Syrup?

I did 2 cups of sugar to one cup of water. I plan to use it to sweeten Kool Aid since my husband was complaining that the regular sugar "wasn't dissolving right".

My question is, does anyone know how much of the syrup I should use in order to replace the 1 cup of regular sugar that I had been using?

I've read that the heat makes the sugar sweeter so you don't need as much, but then I've read answers where people say you have to use more because the water dilutes it.

Needless to say, I'm a simple syrup rookie, so if anyone who uses it regularly for iced teas and Kool Aids and things of that nature, could offer some friendly advice, I would REALLY appreciate it.

Thanks! :-)

Answers: The sweetness stays the same.
Look at it as a ratio.
Your final product has 2 cups of sugar dissolved in water.
TO get the sweetness of 1 cup of sugar you have to use half of your mixture to equal 1 cup of sugar in your Kool aid.
BUT you have to adjust the water content to account for the added water in your simple syrup.
Simple syrup is a great way to use sugar that has gotten hard as a rock. Substitute 1 part syrup for 1 part sugar. Where 1 part = 1 cup, use 1 cup syrup for every 1 cup sugar.
