Why do people put salt on their watermelon when they eat it?!

Question:

Why do people put salt on their watermelon when they eat it?

Answers: Salt helps to enhance the flavor because it makes the water come out. If you salt meat before you cook it for example. the water comes out and can result in dry and tough steaks if they're overdone. So, it's just a way to encourage a watermelon to give up its juice. Because it tastes great. Try it ! It brings out more of the sweetness. It taste good. it enhances the flavor it's supposed to bring out the flavor. i just think it makes it taste like the sea. Salt added to melons brings out the flavor. I love to eat watermelon and cantelope with salt, and I've heard, but not tried it, salt on grapefruit makes it taste sweeter. it taste sooooo good salt is used to enhance a food's natural flavors. putting salt on watermelon will make it taste sweeter - although too much will just make it salty It's a matter of contrasts of flavor the sweet watermelon's natural flavor with the salt's natural saltiness make for an awesome delight...try it Because it gives it a little tangy flavor, and it also brings out the flavor of the watermelon. Try it sometime it makes it sweeter.just a little bit though. tastes great
on grapefruit
lemons
apples
as well as all melons If the watermelon is good and sweet, I put a little salt in my melon. It brings such a good taste, the melon and salt and my mouth can taste it right now. I love a good watermelon though. When I was pregnant and in January, I began to crave watermelon. They were impossible to find here. But, my husband searched and searched and finally found one. The watermelon was mealy but at least I got my craving satisfied. I will always put salt on my watermelon and feel satisfied. I just like it. Beside my taste has greatly diminished and I need more and more salt. You see I have good blood pressure and salt hasn't interfered with it yet.

Thank you for asking!
