Waht's the difference between hotdogs, wieners, and franks?!

Question:

Waht's the difference between hotdogs, wieners, and franks?

When you go to a supermarket you see all sorts of processed meat, but I still couldn't figure out why some are called wieners, frankfurters, hotdogs --- they all seem to taste the same.

Answers: There's no difference between franks and weiners. A hot dog is a *hot* dog; it's a frank/weiner until you warm it up.

And they *don't* all taste the same. Most brands taste like crap. Oscar Meyer is not crap, but it's bland. Hebrew National is OK for a beef frank, but pork franks are better.

Eckrich used to be good when Beatrice owned them, but then Beatrice handed them over to the people who ruin Swift, and they were terrible, and the Butterball folks seemed to think turkey belongs in hot dogs, which is a terrible idea, and now they belong to Corn Products, and last time I tasted Eckrich, I decided I didn't want to try them any more.

There are some good regional brands; for instance, John Morrell (formerly Dinner Bell) and Kunzler's are pretty good, but most brands in most markets are intended to be cheap foods for preschoolers who aren't bright enough to know any better. They are the same. I worked for a hotdog manufacturer. They key is to look at the ingrediants.

The real differences are three:

- taste
- whether you want all beef
- the spieces used to make the flavor I agree for the most part, but there is one brand that is different - Oscar Meyer weiners. Whether they're chicken or turkey, they're still better than the other brands. Have you tried them? Marketing..!,,
