Does cooking food in the microwave concern you?
We are told to be careful of plastics, and some glazed mugs and dinnerware. I try to use paper plates, paper towels, (without dye), or microwave safe cooking dishes. Additional Details

I agree that the microwaves cooking the food concern me. I've been doing like many people, and using a microwave for years. Mostly to heat in, but still.... Nope - my only concern is cleaning up the stuff that overflows the bowl, cup or plate.
The "radiation" is not really a huge issue - all the m'wave does is excite the molecules so the friction heats the food or drink.
It used to be that people with pacemakers needed to worry, but the waves and seals are so very much better now, they do not have to worry.
You also do not need to worry about plastic - unless you use items that are not labeled 'microwave safe' (styrofoam containers and the like)
Ditto for ceramic - unless it is a very delicate antique china, metal trimmed or lead-based glaze you are generally fine. Source(s):
A good place to evaluate rumors is http://www.snopes.com/ I also stand back. I have been told they leak radiation somewhat!?? No. I always follow directions. I have been using a microwave for twenty four years and have never had a problem. I usually cook things in the microwave on a glass/ceramic plate. I assume it's safe.
If not that, then the container (like if it's a TV dinner thing) that the food comes in. I don't think what you cook your food in is the only concern. I think the fact that micro waves are cooking your food is a health concern. I don't have much concern with microwaves. The big no-noes are leaving things in too long and putting metal objects inside (those matlic metal bread ties are a killer). No, can't get in kitchen area properly but microwave is where I can reach it so if I need to cook something it is what my mum would have called 'a godsend'. Yes. Aside from cooking in certain plastics and the toxins leeching into your food...the microwave heats your food I feel unnaturally. It takes the nutritional value out of food.
