My bread turned to stone!! how can i resuscitate it??
Answers: Those who said sprinkle water and microwave are correct. One weird thing about microwaving is that it resusicitates hard bread. A little water sprinkled helps insure good results. Don't drench it, just sprinkle enough on to help it steam when it hits the microwave.
In the future, you can freeze bread. Bread lends itself to freezing VERY well. Do it before it gets hard, of course. If it's a baguette or something, you might want to pre-slice before freezing. buy another loaf Throw it out, and go buy more! Sprinkle some water on top of it and then put it in the microwave! Um.... o_o
Sprinkle water on it? Put it in the microwave? XD
But seriously, you don't wanna do that if you actually plan to EAT it. Just throw it out. x]] Never fear, you now have a lovely doorstop.
My ex mother in law used to sprinkle it a bit with water, put it in a paper bag in the oven for a couple of minutes. It seemed to work, but if it were me I'd go with the doorstop or another loaf of bread. The trouble with the microwave is that it seems fresh when it is warm but once it cools down I think it seems even staler than it was in the first place. Put moisture back into it. Wet it good and wrap in foil and reheat in the oven.
