Do I have to order the same amount of everything?!
Do I have to order the same amount of everything?
I am ordering a varity of party trays for my anniversary reception. I estimate 100 people will be there. If I were to assume that everyone was going to have a little bit of everything, I would order enough of each tray for that many people. Then again some people may like one thing more then another, and want seconds. Also some people may not like some of the things at all. So what would you do?
Answers: People usually will go back for the meat, the desserts, and the bread. People rarely go back for seconds of hot vegetables. I wouldn't go double on those, usually people pick one. I would double the meat & the bread, and have an assortment of desserts.
But your family might be different. In our family, the guys are a bunch of big meat eaters so they'll pile up on the meat, stuffing, & mashed potatoes. If your family is more vegan, you might want want to try a different approach. this is what I would do. I would order foods that are good and liked by most people. I would steer away from exotics simply because you may end up with a tray of food no one touched. You can never go wrong with a vegetable tray, people will munch on vegetables like rabbits. oh and nothing messy. yet another tray that will end up in your fridge, or on your floor. I would order trays to serve 150 people, at least. There will be enough assortment that everyone will find something to eat, and if there are leftovers, there are plenty of soup kitchens that would more than welcome the donation. Have a fun celebration! Its better to have left overs then not enuff...if you do it so theres enuf 4every 1 for a bit of everythink & b coz if sum dnt like 1things another person mite & mite go bk from 2nds so it wil prob get eaten no, don't order equal amts of everything. say you have a tray of mac and cheese, a tray of meatballs, and a tray of pickled beets.
people would swarm the meatballs first taking extra helpings of it followed by the mac and cheese, and the beets would be untouched. you would have to order, say, 3 trays of meatballs, 2 of mac and cheese, and a tray of beets.
