Question:

Do I need a permit for cooking school?

I love to cook. I wonder if I open cooking class in California or Texas, do I need licence or permit? Someone help... I keep surfing few hrs to get answer. But no luck...

Answers: I haven't opened anything personally, but I know that you can't just open something on your own. You need to have a lot of experience and a sanitation certificate. I needed to get my sanitation certificate just to move forward in my culinary school. Just ask the chefs at nearby restaurants, or go to the nearest college and ask the head of the culinary program, if there is any. I'm sure that they will have some answers for you. Good luck with your class. Source(s):
Culinary Student yes you do if you making it a public buisness but if its just you asking people to come over and cook then no! your mama's Well, of course, I can tell you that just about anywhere you go in this country you will need a license or permit of some kind. In order to be a legit teacher under any circumstances you must be certified and fully equiped to certify and equip others. We're talking about people's food here. I'm quite sure by law you have to pass some type of state's standards test for a culinary license.
