I have a carton of eggs and it says they EXPIRE,
OCT. 05,1951.
should I toss them?

If you have the receipt for them and you feel that the expiration date is a misprint you can take them back to the store where you purchased them and get a refund or an exchange.
NEVER EAT EXPIRED FOOD. Same goes for expired medications. They can be toxic. You should definitely not eat those. You will probably get a food disease and get really sick. that's gross. don't take a chance with eggs that old. you have not idea what kind of microbes could be growing on them. you could get seriously ill.
btw, why do you have eggs from 1951? are you serious? where these come from? you sure 1951 is part of the exp. date? here's a hint, 56 year old eggs would weigh nothing, having dryed up decades ago. in any case, eggs are not something to eat if you question their freshness. eat it

that many years ago I am sure they did not put dates on the eggs. I would definately eat them. I heard expired eggs are good for constipation. em... for me you cant toss them. Maybe you will be sick if you eat it! eggs only lass for about a month...that's years..just buy another one......... I'm thinking they didn't have expiration dates back then...
However, to check them (if the carton is mismarked) you can always try putting one the eggs in a cup of tap water.
If it floats, it is bad. Throw it out carefully!
Bad eggs have gas (you know, how bad eggs stink when opened?) inside, hence the floating.
If they sink, they are good.
