Yeah ,I know it's fish eggs. I never could understand the love for it! Real caviar is not "extremely salty". Real caviar is almost impossible to get nowadays.
What you see, mostly in "gourmet shops", is some kind of fish eggs coloured black.
Back in the 70's, I lived for 2 years in Iran when it still was called Persia and the man in power was the Shah.
We had an appartment there and, when throwing a party, we ate real caviar. It cost about US$ 10.00 a pound then and we ate it with a spoon straight from the tin accompanied by pink Iranian Vodka.
Those were times that'll never, never come back. Extremely salty from what I can remember. Beluga is the best and is very expensive...................no need to buy any if it's not your style...........however since I don't know your age or experiences..............if you ever see it at a party or gathering try it! Just fish eggs. SOOOO overrated! no they are too salty and way too expensive ,,,they are just fish eggs !! Its little fish eggs. If that sounds good to you, then there you have it. OH YES!!! VERY GOOD !!! A little bubblie and crackers add some nice cheeses!!! Excellent snack!!! dude no. its disguting. If you like rotten Fish eggs.
Aged really.
I like Roe, it's fresher.
