This is just not right?!
This is just not right?
We all love a bargin at our local super market and enjoy when we save a few pounds/dollors..... but hey i have seen the ethnic family from our local cornor shop going to the super markets and buying all the offers and get one free deals and selling them in their own shop for more than the full origanal price, you can only buy 3 of each item but they go in one at a time and buy the max....do they think that nobody sees what their up to ??? what you folks think about this.???
Answers: So what do you want to do about it my friend ? - not a lot I guess.
People will always find ways to rip people off because, in
today's world -sadly - money over rides EVERYTHING
including life itself. i agree with you, im a p*** and i refuse to shop at their stores. im not racist, i mean that would be well messed up but i say BOYCOTT CORNER SHOPS
they very rarley make an honest living, but i guess that is the same whatever your skin colour Very enterprising. May not seem fair but there are no laws being broken here, as far as I'm aware They're making a profit but people wouldn't feel so great buying that stuff if they knew about it. Tell people! bleddy awful,I know a shop owner that goes to Netto for the cheap champagane and then sells it on her shop for the full asking price.I also know a local restauranteer who buys 3 bottles of wine for a tenner and sells them for nearly £20 a bottle! Terrible! This happens everyday all over the world. Its called free enterprise !
It doesn't really seem fair but if you keep shopping there they will keep doing it. Let me guess, are they wogs? u r right, they ought to softpeddle their shopping. I think they're just trying to make money to support their family and stay in business. I know what you mean. the corner shops near my house all sell imported fags and booze. I seen that first hand few weeks ago in morrisons, a man buying 6 boxes of 24 miller for his local shop, he paid £54.00 for them, then sells the miller at around £1.30 a bottle. I think you are mad that you didn' t think of it first.
This is the model for capitalism.
Wal-mart buys things from one place and sells them for more in their store. What is the difference? It's called free enterprise. We don't put people in prison for doing things like that here in the U.S.
Don't you realize that every grocer store marks up the products they sell? What possible difference could it make if they buy some of the things locally instead of from a distributor. They always mark up the prices. It's how they stay in business!
Sheesh, even store owners that aren't "ethnic", whatever the heck you mean by that, mark up the prices on the things they sell.
Do all you people that were upset when you read this question think you pay the same as the store does??????
Grow up! No laws saying they can't.
I just go to the same supermarket they go to and get the deals for myself instead of buying from the corner mart. Retailing is about buying at a low price and selling at a higher price. The mark-up is what pays the bills, pays the wages and possibly might give you a profit. So the local supermarket undercuts the wholesale warehouse - what do you expect the corner shop to do? If people find it convenient to buy the stuff there rather than in the supermarket, what's your problem? Its called capitalism. supply and demand. they went out and bought it and someone for convenience sake will now buy it from them........
that is how the business world works, sure I can sew my own clothes, but instead I will walk into a store and pay a lot more for the "convenience" of it.
If you are against this, its easy dont shop in their store! i think you are spending to much time at the supermarket spying on people.. haha
but if you do suspect them of doing this then contact trading standards or the food companies they are selling directly.. this will put a stop to them doing it! well...stop shoppig from their's!!! It's legal and a way to make a profit. While you may not think its ethical others may think they are smart business people. Personally I think it's fair. If you want to buy cheaply you would do the same thing. The people, whether they are Ethnic or not, are having to compete with the supermarkets for a living and so, because their shops tend to be closer to the residents than the supermarkets, mark up their prices in order to compensate their profit margin. If you don't want to pay their prices don't use their shops. It's as simple as that. What they are doing falls into a 'grey' area of retail law. If there is a problem with any of the goods they sell thay are totally liable for the problem and not the manufacturer as they are in law selling 'second-hand goods'. They can if they want, but i have not been into my corner shop for months (for this reason)
Just shop where they buy and let them get on with it Whatever their race, colour or creed what they are doing is not necessarily morally wrong, but shoppers who buy from them are suckers. Shoppers who don't want to be suckered should shop around. After all, that's what retailers do - buying cheap(er) and selling at a profit margin. Retailers get special deals when they go to cash-and-carrys and they don't have to pass them on to shoppers. It is also up to manufacturers to print on the packaging if it's a special offer so that any attempts to resell them would be found out (as in crisps sold in large bags of 6). I can't say it isn't something I've thought about doing before, because it is, and it is an obviously a fantastic idea.
I don't buy from corner shops, most I've visited have always been over-priced. Buy low sell high. Its the American way. The super market just gets a better deal on the products because they have more buying power. Or maybe they are just reducing some inventory. Either way no harm no foul. Their are corner stores everywhere and all of them have terrible markups on all their products. Shop at the super market and enjoy your discount. ROFFLMAO nice answer by Prosacnation LOL xx Corner shops have been doing this for years! 'Ethnic' has nothing to do with it. The only time it is illegal though is if they buy Packs of Cigarettes or Crisps etc and then resell them singly! I know an 'English' shop-keeper who was fined for doing that, recently.
If you don't like what they are doing, report them to trading standards, though I doubt they'll do anything about it! After all it's not any different than buying their stock at a Cash N Carry and upping the price. It's called making a Profit! wow, you must have been standing there watching for a long long time if you saw them all go in one by one....haven't you got anything better to do?? It doesn't seem right, no, but that's the way the world is, and don't forget it is these people who are supplying us with things we need/or more to the point want, when all the other shops are shut. If you don't like what they are doing, don't shop with them. And maybe the supermarket should be informed, because they really shouldn't be doing it......
