Why do some peaches rot as soon as they ripen?!

Question:

Why do some peaches rot as soon as they ripen?

I've been amazed by the peaches this past year as they were so yummy. However, once again, I am experiencing my prior problem of peaches that just reach the ripe stage and they are actually rotton underneath. These are large peaches from Washington. I didn't take them out of the plastic overnight. However, that doesn't seem to make much difference. What gives, peach experts!?

Answers: Because they bruise so easily which in turn causes them to rot.=) I wonder the same thing. It is pretty annoying. the just ripen till they are rotten same as any other fruit I am amazed that people think we humans are the only ones that like ripeness. The bacteria (that rot the fruit and are everywhere) thrive when the sugar content hits it's peak (ripeness). The problem is we are so busy with the rest of our lives, and bacteria are soooo much more on the ball than we are when it comes to enjoying fruit at it's peak.

It's hard to know which peaches have already been enjoyed by bacteria, so it's kind of hit and miss. I'm lucky that I have a fabu peach tree right out side that cranks them out, but I still hate to see a perfect peach get enjoyed by birds and bacteria and fungi. It's a competitive world...but the few I enjoy make it all worth it...I just gotta watch my greed level. You can usually enjoy most of the peach still after removing the bad part. Enjoy...(...what they leave for you!!)
