Question:

Aspartame..Its banned in the US but still allowed here in Britain. Why?

Answers: Nope not banned in the US at all. You actually can't even find much in the way of chewing gum that does NOT have aspartame. Most low calorie yogurts have it, as well as almost all diet sodas. We avoid it personally, but it is far from banned in the US. no idea! Money. Who told you it was banned in the US? They just changed it's name to nutrasweet!
The stuff should really be avoided, as well as being addictive it was shown to cause brain tumours in mice, and was basically approved for use in the US by paying lots of money for dodgy research and paying off congressman and lobbyists! The market for an artificial sweetener with no calories is so big that the drug companies have even tried to ban the natural alternatives like Stevia and Agave! The reason is definately because humans who have aspartame in their system are at risk of suffering from aspartame poisoning. This unnatural food additive is responsible for about 75% of food allergy incidents.

Symptoms include Headaches/migraines, dizziness, seizures, nausea, numbness, muscle spasms, weight gain, rashes, depression, fatigue, irritability, tachycardia, insomnia, vision problems, hearing loss, heart palpitations, breathing difficulties, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, loss of taste, tinnitus, vertigo, memory loss, and joint pain. Many people also suffer seizure and death.

There are many other problems associated with aspartame, see the source below.

The reason that US has banned it, and britain has not, is probably because in the US, the climate is much warmer. There is a small chance that if a food containing aspartame reaches 30+degreesC, a chemical reaction takes place that releases fomaldehyde which is a deadly toxin, and builds up in your body if you ingest it. The symptoms are severe. In the UK, the temperature rarely goes above 30, so the dangers is not so high. But there are still dangers with having aspartame in foods that you heat, and drinks like coffee. So aspartame should definately never be consumed. Why is it banned?Never heard something about that. Donald Rumsfeldt introduced it without tests in the US. I have been reliably told by my gf that on mice and rats and in large doses it can cause cancer. She is a Texan by the way. The UK Government goes by the policy of the European Directive which allows Aspartame.
