Cake help ??
I'm makeing a cake for my dad's birthday today, I'm using two 9 in. (circle) pans and I want to use a filling but I don't know what to use. Any suggestions ??
My dad pretty much likes everything
* Also it has to be something that is found in most house holds since I can go out shopping for it.

I'm using white cake. you could use peanut butter, caramel, berries, jelly, nuts, marshmellow creme, crushed pineapple, flavored cream cheese, or pudding... good luck. Tell him happy birthday, I'm also a fellow Libra Pork How about pudding...similar to a Boston creme pie. Maybe some strawberry jam. Jelly or some fruit mixed with sugar to make a syrup. if its not a chocolate cake lemon pudding made a bit stiff makes a great filling. if its chocolate you can use a chocolate filling those are easy to make. just look on line for reciepes. have fun. if you dont want to look on line look it up in most cook books. does your mom or dad have one you can use? Jam is an easy filling. You could just use frosting in the middle...or you can use fruit...check what fresh or canned fruit (or canned pie filling) you have on hand. Pineapple might be nice, as a lot of people like it..you could even put pineapple rings on the top (on top of the frosting layer, or instead of) and put maraschino cherries in the middle of the rings and all around the circumference of the cake. That might make it a little more festive. You could make a sugar syrup glaze and brush that on the top & then add fruit in any design you want and then brush the syrup over all. That makes it nice and shiny & it looks more professional. Use your imagination and have fun. Happy birthday to your dad! Chocolate fudge or caramel (like the sundae topping) would be delicious. Jam would also be a good choice. You could always skip the filling and just use frosting if your frosting the outside anyways. Mmm.. my mom always makes chocolate cake with cherry pie filling in the middle, and some on the top for decoration. You could use, jam, frosting, a different kind of pie filling, or pudding.
