Do you buy named brands or save money on shops own cheaper goods?!
Answers: I don't buy cheap coffee, tea or meat but try to economise on other products.
bit like you, some items i will buy asda's own brand of, like biscuits and they own weetabix, but tea coffee and soap powder and toiletries i can not save a few pence on must have good stuff, it just depends i will try cheaper stuff if me and my family like it i buy again

the cheaper the better It's all about preference. However you should clip coupons or look online for printable coupons for "name brand" food. They can't sell generic brands if it's bad for you to eat.
Depends on what it is, my hubby is a butcher so he's in charge of the meats and it's amazing all the ways he knows to save money in that area. Often the house brands are made by the same name brand company with a different label slapped on the package. I buy off brand cereals but read the labels as one time I got really salty type "cheerioes". but usually I'm very happy with the house brands but I'm not picky and I'm trying to have my kids not be picky either.
I'll try the store brands or off brands and if they're acceptable then I'll stay with them; if not I'll go back to the name brands.
We buy what we like.
If we try it and like it we buy again, if we don't like we don't buy again.
BTW, the shops own label is frequently not the cheapest, especially at Tesco.

I would like to by more M&S Foods, but they are so expensive, this is a shop's own label. We do this only as a treat.
Most of the shop own brands are the same as the named brands but with a different label. I buy mostly own brands but agree with you about coffee and beans. Also, you can't beat Kellogs cornflakes or Cadbury's chocolate! Own label chocolate isn't as nice!
Some and some; beans, ketchup and soup has to be Heinz!
I am like you. I don't like some generic things, others are okay. I like good coffee, good cheese, good meat, good soup, brand name condiments. I don't really care if I get store brand toilet paper, paper towels, or some canned vegetables.
Not if it's coffee. Got to have decent coffee and own-brand stuff is disgusting.
Same goes for chocolate.
Brand doesn't matter. I only buy goods with good quality & at reasonable price.
I buy expensive yogurt, ice cream and meat. I get cheap brands of stuff like pasta, baked beans and rice.
I buy name brands only.
