What's the deal with childproof candy?!

Question: Why is it that candy wrappers have been made to withstand above-average adult male human strength? I'm no weakling. I work out my forearms and hands along with the rest of my body. I don't have arthritis. And yet the bag of Halloween candy I bought would NOT open for the life of me. I scanned the bag for directions in order to open the bag and found none. By the way, if a bag has any directions at all, no matter how simplistic, then it is too difficult to open. I had to stab the bag with a pencil to open it. All so that I could eat a caramel-filled eyeball.

This isn't the first time. It's almost every time. Every candy bar that I've bought lately has been a pain. But usually they have directions. But directions are unnecessary if they just wouldn't place the candy in Carbonadium.

It didn't use to be like this. Why did they make it so that people can't open up candy? Children aren't superstrong and they shouldn't have to wield sharp objects to get a sugar fix. What changed?

lots of parents are unbelievably scared of the Halloween candy being tampered with - poisoned. Interestingly, we have almost know actual cases of that happening, but TONS of rumors ever year.

and the candy companies are scared of that , too.
