Answers: extremly black to the point where it is just charcoal but still meat inside is juicy and the outside is crunchy?
it tastes better that way because you can never tell that a hotdog is cooked unless its got some of that charcoal, otherwise i feel like an animal eating raw meat. I give the burnt hotdog a yes over boiled or undercooked anyday.
yes i like my hot dogs burnt but not burnt through. You dont even have to use a bun, just pick it up and chow!

I love mine charcoal colored & juicy & steaming inside. Matter of fact,we had some yesterday,along with red hots,chicken,pork chops & hamburgers at our cook out. But I only like my hot dogs & red hots like that.

When I make them at home, I split the "dog" in half and saute` it on the flat side. At the same time I butter the buns and toast them on the griddle or skillet. Then slather the bun with mustard, add some smothered onions, the hot dog and maybe some relish, close it up like a book and enjoy.
