Available August through February. Production is centered in Florida, the Caribbean, Hawaii and California.

Dont know where you live so it would be hard to tell ya. Whole Food Market, Tom Thumb, Central Market, most high end food stores have them when in season. Should be fairly firm, and the skin will be yellow with no green tinges. Slight browning along the edges is normal. There are two varieties -sweet and tart. Avoid fruit that is soft, blemished or has excessive browning along the edges.

They're grown in South Florida, very popular in Sri Lanka, India and Indonesia. Your best bet is going to an 'India Sweets & Spices store in a big city. But some major supermarkets are carrying Star fruits now!
