"the way I see it" comments on the side of the Starbucks cup????!
"Why in the moments of crisis do we ask God for strength and help? As cognitive beings, why would we ask something that may very well be a figment of our imaginiations for guidance? Why not search inside ourselves for the power to overcome? After all, we are strong enough to causae most of the catastrophes we need to endure."

Starbucks customer from London, Ontario.
He desscibes himself as a "modern day nobody."
Funny note: there is a disclaimer about the opinion, saying it is not necessarily that of Starbucks.
Answers: So I went in for my morning cup of coffee and I was reading the cup inwhich it came. They have The Way I See It comments on the side from customers all across the world. Good right? I mean, why not post what customers are saying about your product. It is free publicity. However, the comment I received kind of struck a nerve with me and I want to know what you think about the comment (#247) on the side of my cup.

I agree, I think it's very odd for them to be on the side of a coffee cup. When you order a cup of coffee, you don't want someone else's opinions on it. I think Starbuck's should stop this. They are offended a number of people, from atheists to christians. I heard of a traditional Christian who was irritated about a pro-homosexual comment etc... it just doesn't seem appropriate, when you are getting a cup of coffee, to have to have who knows what on your coffee cup. I certainly would be a bit peeved if there was something on the cup that I wouldn't want my children to see. You go to starbucks to get good coffee, not to get a liberal or for that matter Christian or ANY other person's opinion staring you down on your coffee cup. LOL
thats so coool right!
I think it's true. God MIGHT very well be figment of our imaginiations. Can't prove it one way or another. It's just saying that we need to take control of our lives! If there was a religious comment on there would you be complaining then? They are a private company and can do want they want.
isn't it great that we have freedom of speech, and that their are soldiers dying for this, so might as well we go ahead and use it. I don't see nothing wrong with the London guy's comment!
Ok... the statement would be upsetting to people who aren't secure in their faith. It's obviously pointed at people who believe in God, or a higher power...
The destressing thing is that you can't answer the guy asking the question...
People have thier own individual relationship with God... it's not a cookie cutter deal. People would also have no faith in God if they had no personal relationship with God. It's like being married to someone you never met... and might never meet. What is that? Of course you have to have a relationship with God. And as with any relationship, you nurture it, defend it, love it...
Pointing such a question at such people would be distressing.
But the man will now have lots of prayers... that might not have been the intention of it being printed, but it's a good thing it was.
If its called "The Way I See It" comments, then I think each comment made should be the way the person making it see's it. NOT how we all see it. It sort of says in the title alone it's a personal opinion and not everyone's.
Not everyone believes in God and they have that right. I DO myself believe in God and I DO myself pray for guidence, strength, wisdom, health, and many things. In which by all means IS looking inside myself for MY beliefs. It also does not mean I do not take other measures of looking inside myself. Which is what God would want me to do as well. Which this person probably hasn't went as far to think possible.............
Had he been a reiligous person, or even researched his own question, he might have known God expects alot from us and doesn't simpley base it all on an answered prayer.
There is a large amount expected from us to do for ourselves or from "with in ourselves".
As in, God might have a plan for our deaths, but that doesn't mean if we walk out into a street and stand we will be safe if it isn't that day.... God expects us to be sensible and not attempt to kill ourselves either. He watches over us he does not lead us around on a leash.
You don't just go to church and sit in a pew and it all happens. Someone physically get's up and preaches......from within. You have to have your own self discipline...from within. You have to have your own faith........from within. You have to have the will to get out of bed........from within. You have to have the will to tackle your day and be productive....from within........ Talking to God is a way people have faith, believe, live FROM WITHIN.
I see nothing wrong with this man's comment. It is his opinion and he is entitled to it. Until he looks further into his own question, it is unlikely he will change his mind, or to see his own question is answer'd as religious faith comes from within the beholder of it. You can't project or force it onto someone. When we pray to God it comes from with in us and the way some look for and receive their strength to over come what may be. catastrophes or what have you. etc.
Think about all the people who have suffered a major illness and survived or experienced a near death experience. If they believed in God prior did it change or strengthen?? After all "their" struggling to survive and pain did they take the credit or give it to their God? How many suddenly found their God???
Its only a fragment of your imagination, IF your picture of how it should come is in the form of a man rather than in the form of a blessing......... How is this man so sure it's an imaginary thing? Depends on what his view or perception of what he expects presented to him is. Not everything comes in the package we sit and wait for. It doesnt mean it didnt come.
So don't let it bother you, pray for the man. Its just "The way he see's it". It doesn't make it your opinion or your neighbors.
Although I can see why some would be offened by comments they might read and then find offensive that can often ruin or change a good day just because they bought a cup of brew and unexpectedly read a comment that was offensive to them. Or for those who have children who might have read something and asked a awkward question or repeated it. That might be the trade off for some interesting comments or thoughts such as done here. Although this is a bit more private than a public display on a cup of coffee.
I dont see to much harm in a now and then comment we don't like if the majority are fun and pleasant as it is in personal opinion. Chances are not all will agree on any of the comments completely. They I imagine were meant for discussion over coffee and probably what they have been??? I wouldnt let one persons opinion effect my day to much.Chuck it off as such.
