How well does olive oil work as a butter substitute? Does it taste like butter?!
Answers: it works well, depending on what you cook. It doesn't taste like butter, only similarly. I like sunflower seed oil though :)
no it does not taste like butter, but it is good to cook with
WHAT? It will not work well, and no it does not taste anything like butter.
I THINK SO WHAT'S YOUR EAL NAME?http://mx.answers.yahoo.com/question/ind...
It tastes nothing like butter, but some people like it.
I think it is an acquired taste.
No it does not taste like butter.
Substitute for what? Cooking yes on bread no it does not taste like butter.
It's great! My parents started using it and I had my doubts but now it is all I buy.
No it does NOT taste like butter...why would it? it's a fine substitute for frying though
It depends on what you are making. Butter does not taste like olive oil. Olive oil tends to change the flavor of foods differently than butter. I would never use it as a substitute for butter in baking.
Depends on what you're using it for. I use it in cooking (not baking!) all the time instead of vegetable oil or butter. It is so much better for you! It doesn't exactly taste like butter, but it works as something to use to saute things in. And its GREAT for dipping bread in to, in place of butter. I think its got a stronger taste than butter.
What are you cooking?
You can put it on bread and cook with it. Spanish people use it as an alternative to butter, but it doesn't taste like it at all.
It works well, but it does not taste like butter, if you're looking to cut make calories, I suggest PAM cooking spray there are many flavors and none of the calories!
Well... I certainly wouldn't be putting any olive oil on my toast! lol I don't know your reasons for looking for a butter substitute, but I love "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter". The fat free version has only 5 cals per tablespoon, and you can't even notice a difference. (at least I can't, my family is picky and if they even SEE the words "fat free" they immediately get it in their head it's awful)
It tastes like Olive Oil. Buy Extra Virgin and dip your sliced baguette in it. Delicious.
i think is pretty much tastes the same and it is much better for you..i use it all the time instead of butter
The main taste sensation from butter is the huge quantities of salt in it. Olive oil can be a based for many types of dishes: anything Italian, salad dressing, frying (at low temperatures)
+
it is a lot healthier than butter.
I haven't used butter in years. Never did like the salty greasy taste of it.
No it taste nothing like Butter...but what does butter taste like nothing...and so does olive oil. It the seasoning that is added to the butter that makes it taste that way. Olive Oil is a healthy sub to butter. Its recommended to lower chlosteral and cut fat intake. I recommend you invest in Adobe seasoning products and/or Garlic and Herb seasoning (any product). Use the right amount by taste you can and will achieve the same great taste butter provides.
Happy Cooking!
i dont think so but it can be used in foods
If you're using it on bread it is a great substitute. No, it doesn't taste like butter. Get you some good Italian or French bread. Pour some GOOD extra virgin olive oil into a saucer & add some fresh ground black pepper. Break the bread & dip into the oil. It's great.
The same goes for cooking. Olive oil imparts a different flavor than butter. Olive oil is much better for you also.
It's a better substitute. Even if it's really expensive, olive oil is not dangerous for health.
No, but it's good to use both - only for low to medium temperatures, no higher.
Veg oil for high temps.
NEVER!
It's good to cook with olive oil is better than butter, more healthy but about the taste, the olive oil has a diferent flavor, you can try if you are in a diet or somthing the crisco butter flavor no stick spray for fat free cooking the taste is even better than real butter.
no, it tastes awful
