Why does "New and Improved" usually mean "Smaller and more Expensive?"?!
Answers: My breakfast bars now have "less calories" of course that's because they are smaller now. Advertisers SUCK.
Hello:
Because food, beverage, laundry detergent, toilet paper etc companies think that we consumers are so dense, that we will never notice that they keep upping the prices on their products, while making these products smaller and smaller and smaller and charging twice as much!
I will tell you what really makes me angry aside from food is that now laundry detergent companies for instance, are making their laundry detergent bottles so small, that even Barbie herself could carry it,and they are charging a fortune for these things! I mean,my family and I buy the big bottles of liquid laundry detergent when they are on sale, because we go through alot of it. We cannot use powdered laundry detergent in our washer, because it will ruin our clothes,I am not joking!
Now with the stupid smaller sized bottles that are coming out,we will be buying it alot more of it,and that is what any laundry detergent company wants is to make their products as small as possible,so we have to buy it more often! Same things go if you have kids too, look at diapers, formula, baby food,etc...
This just makes me so angry because I THOUGHT that we as consumers were supposed to have the FREEDOM to choose what size of products that we wanted to buy depending on how much of it we use,but I guess not! What next? Will the toilet paper companies start selling their rolls of toilet paper one at a time and charging double price of it because they don't think that people should be having four rolls of toilet paper in a package at a time? Where does all of this nonsense end?
The answer is marketing to boost sales.
Most companies are not interested in our health or saving us money.
If you are really passionate about this then the manufacturer could be contacted. Maybe you will prompt a change.
Good Luck!
I'm waiting for bread to be sold one slice at at time! I swear, the way things are going with food products gettings smaller and smaller, one of these days it will be sold that way! Can we even buy a pound of bacon or coffee any longer? It's been years since I've seen them sold that way. It's always around 13 oz. now.
LOL! That seems true, huh? I wish i knew...
I agree. New and improved for the manufacturer usually means new portion size(smaller) and improved sales(cost more) and they know if we can tweak our budgets somewhere else that we will find a way to buy their product if we like it enough. I think manufacturers are like drug dealers, they get you hooked and you panic when they threaten to take it away from us or charge us more for it.
Hope This Helps.
Good Luck
Because "new and improved" is a lie in itself! Just think about it. If something is "new" it never existed before, so therefore can't be "improved". If it "improved", then it has been changed from its original version, so therefore, can't be "new"!
marketing and promotion purpose to get more sales and customers
Well i think its because cuz then like ipods, they are more portable and they work better..or like food, they are healthier but smaller....i think that its TOO small...lol im like cool more technology but WHAT THE HECK ITS THE SIZE OF A PENCIL!
