This should bring up a heated debate; should hot sauce be kept in the fridge or in the cupboard after opening?!

Question: This is a great debate in our houshold. Ask your friends- you'll be surprised by how many people actually keep hot sauce in their fridge! Let's see what you have to say about it!

LOL...if you put it in the fridge, it will clump at the top!

You MUST keep it in the cupboard!!!
in the fridge!!!
I keep everything in the fridge once opened.
in the cupboard
fridge!!! man, nasty crap grows on stuff after its opened.
Most of them are labelled that they should be refridgerated after opening, but from the ingredients, I doubt it matters.
Mine stays on the dining room table, so it's close at hand. Yeehaw!
doesnt it make sense to put hot sauce in the fridge after it has been opened? It keeps it fresh longer. I know that a lot of spices in the sauce have been cured, but it's always my safe bet to keep it in the fridge. My husband though will sneak it into the cupboard.
well read the back of the jar it will probably see refrigerate after opening if it needs to be refrigerated
Heated debate?? Really.. wow.. well im not that emotional but I would say fridge.. mostly becuase the label says so.. what about peanut butter.. now there is a debate!! (In my house anyway)
I have no fridge; I leave it on a shelf.
I also leave several bottles in my office year-round.

Tapatio is the best....BTW
Go to any Mexican restaurant and it sits on tables all the time. Even go to IHOP and Cholula and Tabasco are there all day. The vinegar and salt preserve it. No one keeps vinegar in fridge; hot sauce is basically vinegar, chilis, and salt.
I love hot sauce, many of the bottles say refrigerate after opening. The ones that don't. I still put them in the refrigerator, just in case you are suppose to. I don't want to get sick. I also feel it lasts longer.
Most hot sauces contain enough vinegar that they can be kept at room temperature without spoiling. Tabasco is made from peppers aged in barrels at ambient temperature for two years, it is hard for me to imagine how the sauce could possibly spoil after that.
Hi there
If your meaning Hot pepper sauce that westindians use I'd say not in the fridge, my Da uses it he has never put it in the fridge, lets face it its to peppery hot for anything to grow in in..
Now Tommy ketch I keep in the fridge once its opened...lol
All the best
Cassy
If it needs to be refrigerated it will say so on the jar or bottle's label. If not, I keep it in the cupboard.
Read the label and do what the manufacturer recommends.
