Answers: When I was younger I refused to eat broccoli; I didn't mind any other veggies but it was just broccoli I hated. i still hate it to this day. My mother refused to take "no' for an answer and one time after dinner she sat on my lap at the table and literally forced it down my throat. I kept spitting it out on the floor so one time when she covered my mouth and held my nose forcing me to swallow it. It was awful.

Anybody else have similar stories?

Not for me, but for my brother! When we were little, a neighbor gave us fresh broccoli from their garden. My mom steamed it up and served it with dinner that night, and my brothers helping had a worm in it! OMG - he wouldn't eat broccoli for years and years!

Not nearly as traumatic, but my husband won't eat beets because of an incident that happened when he was a kid. His parents served beets for dinner, my husband bit into one and nearly broke his tooth on a BOLT! The beet had grown around a bolt. Weird.
