Why does food have less flavor when you are sick?!

Question: Part of the reason something tastes good to us is that we can also smell it as we eat. If you're stopped up, you aren't able to smell as well, and that component of your enjoyment of food is gone, at least temporarily. Of course, some illnesses tend to make you feel like you just don't want to eat, too, so a deceased appetite is part of the process in that case.

You cannot really smell when you're sick so it affects the way things taste. Try holding your nose and eating or drinking something. You will notice that it is hard to taste food.
it doesn't have less flavor, it's just that when you're sick you can't smell as well. when you think of flavor, you think texture, taste and smell. and you think that you are losing the flavor from the food, but you're actually just losing one of your sences.
